Robynn Stokes Ogert: Owner/Director
Robynn has been teaching at Danceland since 1993. As a student at Danceland, she competed in numerous regional & national competitions where she was awarded many high score awards.
Robynn earned a B.A. in Theatre Arts with an emphasis on dance at Old Dominion University in 1999. While at ODU she performed with the Monarch Dance Team, University Dance Theatre and was a soloist for the ODU Ballet. In 2009 she earned a B.A. in Dance Education along with her K-12 Dance Virginia teaching license.
Robynn became the owner of Danceland II School of Dance in 2000. She teaches ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, pointe, & contemporary at various levels as well as being the artistic director of the Danceland II Performing Company. Her dancers have won numerous high score awards at the regional and national level. Robynn’s choreography has also been recognized with many “Best Choreography” awards. When not at the studio Robynn spends her time traveling around the country judging dance competitions & teaching master classes at other dance studios.
Joanie Marie Powell
Originally from Danville Virginia Joanie began dancing and teaching under the direction of Vikki Rimmer. After graduating in 1995 she continued her dance education attending Old Dominion University as a dance major. There she studied with the ODU Ballet under the direction of Istvan Ament. With the ballet she danced parts in the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Snow White. While at ODU she also preformed with the ODU Dance Theatre.
Joanie has been teaching with Danceland since 2000. She continues to further her dance education by attending numerous dance teacher conventions & conferences each year.
Andrea started dancing at the age of 3 at a local dance school Bernice Johnson Theater of The Arts. She attended the High school of Performing Arts as a ballet major, while taking classes at American Ballet Theater (ABT), and Mme. Darvash school of Russian Ballet, both in Manhattan. She had a two-year scholarship to Alvin Ailey, after which she attended Broadway Dance Center where she joined the Hip Hop company Philly Funk. Andrea has also been featured on tours & in music videos of various recording artists.
Andrea will be teaching hip hop & fitness classes at Danceland II. She also teaches fitness classes at various gyms in the Hampton Roads area. Her two daughters attend Danceland II and are members of the Performing Company.
Lindsay started her dance training at Danceland II. The following year she was invited to join the Performing Company. While performing with the company she has been awarded many top awards at the regional and national level. She has been assisting classes and performing groups at Danceland II since high school. She enjoys working with children of all ages and children love working with her.
In high school she attended the Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA) in the dance department as a ballet major. While at GSA she had the opportunity to attend the regional high school dance festival and learned from many master teachers. She graduated from GSA and is now attending Old Dominion University.
Lindsay will be teaching weekly classes as well as assisting with our performing company this year.
